Tiny white crystals added in our food for taste is known as salt or table salt.Salt is a basic ingredient used in every household.Salt is primarily used for taste of food.In India, no food cooked without adding salt in it.Salt is being used for cooking from the ancient times.But salt has many side effects like heart disease ,kidney disease,over weight,stroke etc.Salt is also essential for body to maintain hydration level and electrolyte balance for normal working of human body organs.
Salt is made up of sodium and chloride with 4:6 ratio.Sodium and chloride,both are important for body and their daily intake is essential.Iodized salt contains iodine in it and it is important mineral to control metabolism and other body functions.Human body needs iodine to make thyroid hormone which is essential for brain and nervous system development.
Salt Intake Limit
Salt have zero calories but it contains sodium which is very effective .Our body needs less than 2300 mg sodium,3.5 gm of chloride and little bit of iodine per day for healthy functioning of body organs.Sodium actually hold water so excessive intake of sodium can lead to water retention in body which will result as weight gain.One tea spoon of salt contains around 1500 mg of sodium ,so for adults eating 1 or 1.5 teaspoon of salt in a day is healthy but it creates problem when quantity of salt intake increases.

Black salt-
Black salt is another type of salt In India is known as 'Kala namak'.It also contains sodium and chloride in it.Black salt is quite healthy when compared with table salt.For an adult daily intake limit of black salt is 4-5 gm.Black salt is used for dressing on food items for amazing taste.There are many health benefits of black salt like-
